CRM refers to the tools you can use to manage your relationship with customers. CRM software allows you to track customer information. For instance if I call and talk to Sally she can track the information and when I call back and talk to Jane she already knows what is going on. Even if you are a dedicated sales representative CRM can benefit you. You can keep track of every contact with a customer. If a customer mentions their birthday you can make note of it and be sure to send them a card next year, or keep information on their last order to follow up on.

Being able to utilize all the data from different applications allows employees to be more efficient and more informed.
